Why this Personal Injury Lawyer’s Number One Priority is His Clients

In an interview , Joseph Doris, an associate at Howard Yegendorf & Associates explained why, as a personal injury lawyer, his top priority is to deliver exceptional client service. Mr. Doris uses his soft skills to help his clients, most of whom are facing serious challenges after a car accident.
“My goal is to be very personable with my clients so that they feel like they have the space to share their story” says Joseph. Since personal injury victims and their families undergo traumatic situations, they need to partner with lawyers like Doris who are welcoming and sympathetic of their situation to help them navigate the litigation process.

Fulfilling a life-long passion

After spending most of his life growing up walking in and out of the law office where his mother was an assistant to a criminal lawyer, Doris knew from a very young age that he wanted to be a lawyer. He saw first-hand what people went through behind the scenes and this drove him to pursue a law degree.
He went to the University of Ottawa to study public administration and political science and later attended the school’s faculty of law. His goal was to approach his education with an open mind and take a broad range of courses to get a complete view of the law.

Acquiring experience in litigation

While at the University of Ottawa, he was accepted into he prestigious clerkship program, which gives a few selected students each year the opportunity to gain law school credits under the supervision of judges at the Ontario Court of Justice. His role was to assist judges with criminal, regulatory and appellate proceedings. This was a great opportunity for Doris as he gained extensive experience working with the judges.
When he graduated from law school in 2017, Doris was recognized on the dean’s honour list and graduated cum laude. He has represented clients at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in a variety of matters. Most of his cases are related to motor vehicle accidents but Doris also has a wealth of experience in tort litigation, statutory accident benefits, occupier’s liability, Canada Pension Plan disability benefits, product liability, OHIP appeals, and long-term disability claims.
